The big girls came out to play today. Grace Brown displayed her power and climbing abilities. Katarzyna Niewiadoma also looks to be doing good. Elisa Longo Borghini is continuously building on that Paris-Roubaix. Ashley Moolman-Pasio after finishing in a second group 36 second down should be more worried after losing 2 precious team-mates.

Stage 5 is the only top mountain finish of this year’s race. Measuring 7.2 km in length, Black Mountain averages a gradient of 5.3% and ramps up to 21% in places. With no van Vleuten or Vollering to dominate the field, we might witness one of the most exciting finish which will reward the probable winner of the overall. With the finish line situated at the top of the Black Mountain, the contenders will be the strongest girls of the startlist.

Katarzyna Niewiadoma, Grace Brown, Elisa Longo- Borghini, Ashley Moolman-Pasio are the main girls who will fight and try to snatch an emblematic summit finish.
★ ★ ★ ★ ★ : Katarzyna Niewiadoma – She is the purest climber of them all and has already displayed that she could keep up with Demi Vollering earlier this year. She would want to her a stage win in a profile that suits her, with Annemiek Van Vleuten not being here.
★ ★ ★ ★ : Ashley Moolman-Pasio – Had it not been for a moment of either weakness or hesitation, she would have been in the fight for a stage win today and therefore, would be the ultimate favourite for the stage win.
★ ★ ★ : Grace Brown – After such a performance like today’s she will definitely be in the mix and has already shown that she would not mind going solo or bringing it to a sprint.
★ ★ : Elisa Longo Borghini – Recent performances and sudden return to form has earned her the right to believe in winning at the Black mountain.
★ : Krista Doebel Hickok – Not sure about why she was not in the leading group today. But the American rider is one hell of a climber that could boss the black mountain on her best day.
