Route to The Tour de France part 2

Objectives  and insight of a  tour. What are the objectives of every riders? The Tour de France is not only about the yellow jersey. Other jerseys and prizes are also in play. While it is already an accomplishment to be lining up at a Tour de France for some, the aim and objectives of one another differs. As previously said, the Tour de France is a grand Tour comprising of 21 stages. The stages vary in profile, length and simply type. The type of stages   This year’s tour will have two time-trials. The first one on the opening day and the second  very decisive one on the penultimate stage. For those new to the sport; A time- trial , known as the race against the watch is as its name suggest: Riders , one after the other  starts from a certain at regular time interval to cover a defined parcours. The time trial stage rewards the one who did the distance in the shortest time. American Tejay Van Garderen in full Time Trial effort last year...

Route to the Tour De France 2022 Part 1

Route to the Tour De France 2022 Part 1 The Tour De France and its place in Cycling by a leadout. Is the Tour De France the only race of the year? The Tour de France is not the only race in the cycling season. It is arguably neither the hardest nor the the most important. Yet, it is a    popular event not only in the cycling world and but across the whole sporting event. How popular is the Tour De France? Each year, about 12 million people line up on the roadside, making it the most popular attractions in France after Disneyland Paris. With 3.5 billion viewers annually, it is the most watched sporting event after the World Cup and the Olympics games. What are the other races? However cycling is not all about the Tour de France. A regular cycling season usually starts towards the end of January in Australia and ends in October with the World Championship. A year calendar consists of 3 grand tours (the Tour de France , the giro D’Italia and La Vuelta D’Espana) , mu...

Tour De Suisse 2022 - Stage 8 Preview

2022 Tour De Suisse - STAGE 8 Preview & Predictions  Stage 7 Review We were expecting him and he did showed up. Thibaut Pinot took a well deserved, confident win on the final climb of Malbun. Sergio Higuita took the yellow jersey by being the best among the GC group.  Stage 8 Preview A flat parcours which will also be the site of the opening stage for the Women’s Tour De Suisse.  ITT:  A flat time trial in the Liechtenstein’s capital of Vaduz awaits us. The weather might prove to be the deciding factor in this 25km effort. Predictions It is hard to decide between Remco and Küng. The former is just that ball that punches through the air while that latter has the chance of a lifetime to podium in his home tour:  ★★☆☆☆: Stephan Küng - While a certain song plays in our head, there is only one little thing that separates him from a home stage win and that is.  ★★☆☆☆: Remco Evenepoel - Another phenomenal time trial performance is expected of him and he ...

Tour De Suisse 2022 Stage 7 preview

Tour De Suisse 2022 stage 7 preview Stage 6 recap: Enough has been said about the withdrawals and we know that we will be hearing more. The breakaway took a logical win given the lack of riders in the peloton to pull back. Stage 7: By now, we know what is the greatest threat to all riders. The number of riders who will be at the start is expected to be less than the 87 riders and that also if the race will continue. Had the circumstances been different, we would have had a real treat: Nevertheless, it will be a spectacle if the race is allowed to go on. Au menu, 4 catégorized climb along 194 km.  The Lukmanierpass is the first of the day coming after the first 34 downhill  kilometres. With a total of 18km of ascent, this will be the terrain for the breakaway to be formed. However due to the decreased number of riders and teammates, it seems more likely that the leading group will be that of the main general classification contenders. The final climb leading to the finish is ...

Tour de suisse 2022 Stage 6 preview

Stage 5 recap In all humility and honestly, I went completely wrong on my predictions for the stage. Using the heat as an ally, Ineos Grenadiers despite losing Adam Yates, dropping man by man every km. Despite all their effort , Aleksandr Vlasov proved his sprint is really on top.   Stage 6 preview This is what awaits us for tomorrow. 177.5 km and 2 hors category climbs. The Nunfenpass is the first categorised climb of the day.  It classified as HC , starting at km 93 andgoes on for 21 km at 5% gradient average.  The final climb of the day starts with 18km to go at an average percent of 8%  As usually we expect an early breakaway to be formed with the KOM jersey, Quinn Simmons . hoping to get some more points. Alexey Lutsenko already down at 10mins will try to use this a pass to get into the break as will Ilan Van Wilder  and Clément Champoussin . Remco Evenepoel stubbornness will persuade him to atrack but it is unlikely that the peloton will let hi...

2022 Tour de Suisse - STAGE 5 Preview & Predictions

2022 Tour de Suisse - STAGE 5 Preview & Predictions Stage 4 Review Daryl Impey took a magnificent win from a reduced sprint in front of Michael Matthews. Soren Kragh Andersen completed the podium. Alberto Bettiol could not do better than 4th after his team put in a big effort in the last climb. Stage 5 Preview This 193.3 km course stage is well designed for a break-away win unless the likes of Matthews, Sagan and Kristoff have other thoughts and would want to seize their last chance of winning. The last remaining races are two mighty mountain stage and the closing time-trial. Quinn Simmons will again try to set the break-away to get those mountain points. this time, the break-away might be larger with stronger riders as the chance for a break-away stage win is more than possible. They will however need to cooperate open a respectable lead before the first  climb of the day. Predictions   ★ ★★★ ☆☆ ☆☆☆☆☆☆ :   Tom Pidcock  - he has the full backi...

Tour De Suisse Stage 4 Preview

2022 Tour de Suisse - STAGE 4 Preview & Predictions Stage 3 Review After taking the most unexpected win of his career, Peter Sagan will be under the loop again. Nobody expected him to win, but not even Kristoff seemed to be upset about it.  Stage 4 Preview   All the action will be packed in the last 30 km. A rush in to the second intermediary sprint, followed by a kick up the road and we drive onto the foot the climb of the day.  Eighteen km from the finish we have 3 km of climbing at an average of 8% before diving into the finish.  Predictions   Team Bahrain Victorious will ride to keep the jersey. As for the win, an attack at the foot of the final climb, could set up a group of formidable riders.  ★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆ :  Alessandro Covi -  While everyone will be waiting for the final climb, he might surprise everyone by going before.  ★★ ☆ ☆☆☆☆☆☆ :  Micheal Matthews -  yesterday Sagan. Today Matthews?  ★ ☆☆ ☆☆☆☆☆☆ :  A...

Tour de Suisse Stage 3 Preview

2022 Tour de Suisse - STAGE 3 Preview & Predictions Stage 2 Review Andreas Leknessund deserves all the credit for his win, but the fact that a full charging peloton could not catch him, will give ideas to baroudeurs in the coming stages. Alberto Bettiol taking the main group sprint in comical manner, is honesly a good news for him after some troubling months If you have missed the action today, you can rewatch the whole stage freely:  here! Stage 3 Profile    The tough Cote du Bouvier, situated after 80 km will have little or no impact on the race. Only Sagan could be dropped. What follows is 120 km of up and down with 2 3rd categorised climb a 2nd  categorised  one.  Predictions It starts with an ascent and this will favour those who want to form a break-away. Quinn Simmons will try to get in it as there are many KOM points today. Thomas De Gendt, Moscon and Bettiol are other who will like to have a chance. Honestly, I think all teams will try ...

Tour de Suisse Stage 2 Preview

2022 Tour de Suisse - STAGE 2 Preview & Predictions Stage 1 Review If you have missed the action like me today, you can rewatch the whole stage freely   here! Stage 2 Profile  The day contains a first category 2 climb, followed by a 3rd category one. The last one, Challpasse ends with 14km downhill to the finish.  The Challpass 6.3 km climb is a not the most difficult climb but the last km will be decisive with percentage of 9 to 10%. From then on, it will just be a 14 km rush downwards to the finish line.  This really could be a day for a break-away win but there are way too many teams with potential winners.  Kristoff will hope that the pace is not too high for him and on the other hand Lotto-Soudal, Team UAE Emirates and, of course, Team Bora would want to bring this to a reduced sprint. Predictions The key moment of the race for me will the last km of the final climb with gradient of 10%. This could favor a ferocious but yet successful attack. ...

Tour De Suisse Stage 1 Preview

2022 Tour de Suisse - STAGE 1 Preview & Predictions Stage 1 Profile   The second part of the stage is a circuit race which ends with a 4.1 km climb at 4.6%. Difficult to predict which one the puncheur will be strongest as we don’t know the form of many of them. But UAE team emirates has several cards and the win could be destined to them if they play them well. Predictions ★★☆☆☆ : Marc Hirschi ★☆☆☆☆ : Alessandro Covi ★☆☆☆☆ : Diego Ulissi ★☆☆☆☆ : Matteo Trentin Also available :  Critérium du Dauphiné stage 8 Preview Tour de Suisse - Part 1 : Parcours Tour de Suisse - Part 2 : Riders to follow Tour de Suisse - Part 3 : Velogames Guide Bookmark us and follow us on  Twitter  for more updates!

Dauphiné Stage 8 Preview

2022 Critérium du  Dauphiné  - STAGE 8 Preview & Predictions Stage 7 Review If you have missed the action, you can rewatch the whole stage freely here!   Stage 8 Profile Finish Climb The morning break-away no matter how hard they will try will not get away with this one. Team Jumbo Visma will take things in control to deliver Primoz Roglič . The last climb is hard. A monster. Roglic might actually lose a few trivial seconds to the best climbers if they dare to attack. I would keep an eye on Esteban Chavez .  Behind him, Jonas Vingegaard and Ben O’Connor should complete the podium. Predictions ★★ ★ ★ ★  : Primoz Roglič - Not even a crash or a sickness can stop him. That is how well supported he is.
